The mad success of the Us Weekly website led Jann to ask me to become the editor of RollingStone.com. I ended up becoming the Editorial Director of all of Wenner, but realistically, the great bulk of my time was spent here. We added multimedia to daily publishing, producing video interviews of the many stars who wandered through on a practically daily business. My team raised web traffic 30% in six months...no small feat for a large, established title. Rolling Stone was hard work but a lot of fun—great to meet icons like Bob Seger, Courtney Love, and Paula Abdul just wandering through the office on some business or another.
Spotlight: 40th Anniversary DVD Set
One of the best parts about working at Rolling Stone is trolling through the incredible archives. As one of many side projects, Jann asked me to pull together a companion book for our 40th Anniversary DVD collection. Deciding what to include from past issues meant diving in deeply to dusty unbound volumes from the magazine's storied past, in that last moment before everything became free online. It was a great creative exercise and a tremendously humbling experience.
